Starting the 352 billion VND project to eliminate the "flood navel" in Go Vap area.

The project to renovate the drainage system of Nguyen Van Khoi and Le Van Tho streets (Go Vap, Ho Chi Minh City) was started

on the morning of May 14, and is expected to be completed in 2026.

The "flood navel" area of Nguyen Van Khoi and Le Van Tho streets in Go Vap district has been newly invested in nearly 5km of

drainage system to solve the flooding situation.

The project to renovate the drainage system of Nguyen Van Khoi and Le Van Tho streets was started by the Ho Chi Minh City

Urban Infrastructure Construction Investment Project Management Board (Urban Infrastructure Board) on the morning of May 14

and is expected to be completed in 2026.

The project to renovate the drainage system of Nguyen Van Khoi and Le Van Tho streets (Go Vap district) has a total investment

of more than 352 billion VND from the city budget.

This is a project under the master plan for the drainage system of Ho Chi Minh City until 2020 approved by the Prime Minister in

Decision No. 752/QD-TTg dated June 19, 2001.

Mr. Van Phu Thai, Deputy Director of the Urban Infrastructure Board, said that the main goal of the project is to overcome the flooding

caused by prolonged rains over the past many years on Nguyen Van Khoi, Le Van Tho, Pham Van Chieu streets, Road No. 51 and the

Flower Village Park area. This is a densely populated area with high traffic density, often flooded due to the impact of heavy rain and

an overloaded drainage system.

The project is invested with the expectation of improving drainage capacity, solving flooding problems in the area, improving environmental

sanitation conditions, ensuring traffic safety, and contributing to improving urban aesthetics and quality of life for local people.

The total length of the newly built sewer line is more than 4.7km with a box culvert system from D1,200 to two 2.5x2.5m channels,

suitable for each section of the route and drainage needs of the regional roads; making the most of the existing sewer system such as D600,

D800, D1,000 longitudinal sewers and D400 transverse sewers.

The project also restores the road surface to ensure flatness and traffic safety; renovates all sidewalks and curbs affected during construction.

Go Vap is one of the localities with rapid urbanization, the transportation system and technical infrastructure have not developed synchronously

with the increasing population rate. This partly affects the environment and quality of life of the people.

Some main roads such as Nguyen Van Khoi, Le Van Tho, Pham Van Chieu ... often have traffic jams and flooding.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Doan Trang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Go Vap District, the project will contribute to

connecting drainage infrastructure, urban embellishment, improving the quality of life of people better and better, effectively solving

problems of drainage, flood prevention and environmental pollution in the area ... The district will coordinate and provide maximum

support for the project to be implemented smoothly, completed and put into use soon./.
