On December 30 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Science and Technology held a conference to review the work in
2024 and deploy tasks for the Science and Technology sector in 2025.
Strengthening the National Science and Technology Potential
In 2024, the Science and Technology sector will continue to focus on perfecting the institutional environment
for science, technology and innovation, reforming administrative procedures, removing difficulties and obstacles,
creating favorable conditions for organizations and individuals to engage in science and technology activities.
The Ministry of Science and Technology has coordinated with the Central Propaganda Department and the
Central Party Office to submit 04 documents to the Politburo; develop and complete 04 specialized Laws on
science and technology; submit to the Government and the Prime Minister to issue 09
projects/documents in the field of science and technology.
At the Conference, Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat said that in 2024, science,
technology and innovation have made many practical contributions to socio-economic development,
ensuring national defense and security, improving social security and people's quality of life.
Accordingly, the work of building and perfecting mechanisms and policies has been given attention
and regular direction, contributing to removing difficulties and obstacles so that science,
technology and innovation are truly the top national policy, the main driving force for developing
modern productive forces, promoting rapid and sustainable socio-economic development.
Many scientific and technological achievements have been rapidly and widely applied in fields such as healthcare,
agriculture, industry, information technology, national defense, security, etc.; activities to
promote support for searching, exchanging, and transferring technology have been promoted.
According to Minister Huynh Thanh Dat, the national science and technology potential has been strengthened,
with many changes in the socialization of investment in science and technology. The quality of human resources
in science and technology has been constantly improved, including many prestigious scientists recognized by
the world, gradually forming a number of advanced international science and technology organizations
in both the public and private sectors.
In 2024, international cooperation activities in science and technology will be increasingly expanded
and deepened to solve the country's key and central tasks in the current period.
In addition, Vietnam's innovative startup ecosystem has developed strongly, creating a new generation
of businesses operating based on intellectual property and capable of accessing the global market.
In 2024, Vietnam's innovative startup ecosystem ranked 56th in the Global Startup Ecosystem Index.
Vietnam's Global Innovation Index (GII) has continuously improved, rising from 59th (in 2016) to 44th in 2024.
Vietnam's GII 2024 results have three world-leading indexes, including the Creative Goods Export Index for the first time.
In addition to the achieved results, Minister Huynh Thanh Dat said that it is necessary to frankly
and seriously acknowledge the remaining shortcomings, limitations, and challenges in order to
