Network operators are ready for the influx of subscribers to Hanoi on the occasion of the 80th National Day
On the occasion of the 80th National Day, an estimated 2.9 million people are expected to flock to the parade area, creating unprecedented pressure
on the networks of major network operators in Vietnam.
In the days leading up to the historic milestone of the 80th National Day on September 2, Hanoi is expected to welcome a 'huge' influx of people to
the center of the capital to watch the parade at Ba Dinh Square on the morning of September 2, 2025 and a series of cultural and artistic events.
Estimated data shows that approximately 2.9 million people will flock to the parade area, including 900,000 people traveling from other provinces and cities.
In the event of a sudden increase in service usage, network operators have prepared scenarios to ensure the best customer service.
Focusing on 'hot spots' to ensure each event
VNPT representative said that all efforts have been mobilized, the entire network has been put in the highest state of readiness to ensure a solid and absolutely
safe telecommunications infrastructure for the 80th National Day Celebration on September 2.
Before the Celebration, VNPT has completed reviewing and optimizing the entire system, deploying plans to ensure information security at the highest level.
Technical scenarios have been prepared, from maintaining the quality of mobile services, preventing network attacks (DDOS) to plans to block services when
there are sudden requests, demonstrating a proactive spirit and absolute responsibility for national information security and safety.
For key activities such as the Parade, parade and major art programs, VNPT has increased the capacity of Vinaphone mobile network in 10 key areas in Hanoi.
In addition to 5,500 3G/4G/5G mobile broadcasting stations in wards with event locations in Hanoi, a series of technical solutions have been drastically deployed
to improve the capacity to meet the increasing demand for customer services at event locations: broadcasting 1,100 additional 4G cells, broadcasting 3G/4G/5G
mobile/field at 106 locations; Increasing indoor broadcasting; Installing IBS/Smallcell systems at strategic locations such as the National Exhibition Center,
Noi Bai T2 terminal; Improving the capacity to serve data traffic at major events.
VNPT not only serves the connection needs of people, but is also a strategic transmission infrastructure for press and television agencies. With Vietnam
Television (VTV), VNPT deployed fiber optic infrastructure at 17 connection points, including 36 white fiber optic lines, 17 Hotline channels and 9 FTTH Internet lines,
ensuring smooth and sharp live TV broadcasts. With Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV), VNPT provided signal transmission lines for 18 LED screens,
6 television connection points and 297 loudspeaker locations, ensuring clear sound that spreads throughout the streets.
First time applying AI to ensure network
A representative of Viettel Telecom said that the network has deployed a key campaign to ensure the "digital lifeline" for the parade celebrating the 80th
anniversary of National Day at Ba Dinh Square.
Viettel has outlined a comprehensive operational plan with more than 2,400 technical solutions, 12 times more than the same period of the September
2, 2024 event and 7 times more than the workload to ensure the A50 event in Ho Chi Minh City.
Specifically, the network operator broadcasts 500 new 5G BTS stations, deploys for the first time 1,200 5G small cells (5G small cells) at crowded places,
along with 700 temporary 4G stations and 25 mobile broadcasting vehicles. 5G small cells are arranged along key routes to increase capacity and access speed,
and at the same time share the load for the 4G network at crowded 'hot spots'.
For the first time, Viettel uses AI technology to 'foresee' network load. Based on event schedule data, airfare, hotel rooms, posts and interactions on social networks,
AI models predict crowded locations, as well as crowd movement behavior. From there, network resources (bandwidth, station configuration, broadcasting direction, etc.)
are prepared and allocated appropriately, proactively before 'hot spots' increase subscribers sharply.
In operation, the X-Optimization (XO) platform combines AI to monitor usage behavior and network status to automatically optimize in near real-time. Every 5 minutes,
the system automatically adjusts coverage, directing signals to areas with high demand, while reducing interference in neighboring areas. When a station shows signs of
overload, users will be redirected to surrounding 'free' stations to balance the load.
Along with Viettel, MobiFone also activated a series of technology and operational solutions to ensure smooth telecommunications and Internet services during the September 2 holiday.
MobiFone representatives said that they will deploy new generation 5G technology combined with artificial intelligence (AI) to forecast and process network traffic in real time.
The AI system will analyze data from many sources, including user behavior, event forecasts, and even social information to identify hotspots in the city, thereby adjusting
the network accurately and quickly. AI not only helps optimize hotspots but also automatically adjusts network parameters, helping to improve performance and reduce network congestion.
MobiFone has also cooperated with Japanese network operator Rakuten to deploy the Open RAN 5G solution on the network to bring the best experience to customers,
deployed first in areas where the National Day 2/9 takes place in Hanoi and will be expanded nationwide.
MobiFone will also deploy a dynamic 5G network system with automatic self-adjusting capabilities. With 4G/5G stations installed at key locations, MobiFone not only improves
Internet speed but also optimizes transmission capacity in crowded areas. This helps users always have a smooth, uninterrupted experience, regardless of how the number of event
participants increases dramatically.
MobiFone's special feature in its network deployment strategy during the National Day holiday is MobiNet Adaptive Network technology. This system uses machine learning to
continuously monitor and analyze user behavior in real time. Based on the collected data, the system will automatically adjust factors such as bandwidth, coverage area and connection
quality to suit the actual situation. The broadcasting stations can automatically 'learn' and readjust to avoid overloading in crowded areas.
In parallel with technological solutions, MobiFone has installed more than 200 mobile broadcasting stations at event venues, and mobilized hundreds of engineers and technical
staff on duty 24/7 at the scene. This force is fully equipped with specialized means and tools, ready to handle all technical situations to ensure that telecommunications and Internet
services are always smooth throughout the Great Festival./.
